Es la obra maestra de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, e internacionalmente conocida fue publicada en Madrid en dos partes, la primera en 1605 y la segunda en 1615. Alcanzó gran éxito inmediatamente a su publicación y se realizaron 16 ediciones en vida del autor.
Después de la gran difusión del género caballeresco, ya desgastado y en decadencia en el Siglo de Oro, el Quijote quiso ser una parodia de estas obras, y el resultado fue la mayor obra de las novelas de Caballería de la literatura toda.
Esta edición bellamente ilustrada y cuidadosamente editada con más de 300 grabados realizados por Gustave Doré en el siglo XIX añade un plus de belleza a la magnifica obra literaria.
Dice Menéndez y Pelayo"La obra de Cervantes no fue de antítesis ni de seca y prosaica negación, sino de purificación y complemento. No vino a matar un ideal, sino a transfigurarlo y enaltecerlo. Cuanto había de poético, noble y humano en la caballería, se incorporó en la obra nueva con más alto sentido".
En la primera parte se realizan las dos primeras salidas del "Caballero de la triste figura" y en la segunda parte Don Quijote realiza su tercera salida, al regreso de la cual cae gravemente enfermo, redacta su testamento, recobra el juicio y muere rodeado del cariño de su sobrina, su ama, y del desconsolado Sancho, que habiendo sido la visión más realista a lo largo de la obra, quiere continuar teniendo a su señor y siendo el escudero de ese personaje idealista al que tantas veces quiso volver a la realidad.
Esta edición está integrada por las dos partes del Quijote, y ha sido cuidadosamente revisada y adaptada a ebooks.
Además se trata de una edición amplia y bellamente ilustrada por Gustave Doré (1832 - 1883) con más de 300 grabados.

This review has nothing to do with the greatest novel ever written but about the sacrilege committed against the memory of Gustave Doré.I like to read books in an electronic format, because; they are far more portable, the lighting that a tablet provides, along with the ability to adjust contrast make reading in dim light a breeze.
The reason that I purchased this version of Don Quijote was to be able to have the amazing visuals that Doré gives the world; his drawings enhance the wondrous novel. The BIG mistake was to think that those drawings would be respectfully recreated in an electronic format. The drawings look like a chimpanzee's interpretation of Dore's masterpieces.
The novel itself, aside from some orthographic glitches is the same novel that has captured the imagination of readers for five centuries, so, if you want it for the literature - fine, but the drawings are shamefully poor.

The best...
Don Quijote sigue siendo actual, es sorprendente que sus principios, sus análisis y sus consejos tienen validez actual.
Es una lectura divertida pletórica de agudeza, ingenio y sana picardía.
Me gusta esta lectura porque siempre hace reflexionar al mismo tiempo que divierte. Las ilustraciones del Doré son admirables.
Recomiendo esta obra a todos, especialmente a los de habla hispana, no obstante el español antiguo.
Extraordinaria novela, maravillosa, aún vigente.
It is one of the greatest pieces of literature along with the very best such as Shakespeare, Dante etc. Must be read in Spanish preferably to get the real flavor of the story.

Read this book when I was in high school and I loved it. It was funny then and more so now. This book it is easy to read and follow...You will enjoy, trust me!
No podría haberme ido de este mundo sin haber leído la obra monumental de nuestro idioma castellano. Aunque dicen los especialistas de hogaño que hablamos Español, Don Quijote cuando se refiere a él lo denomina "Castellano". Uno de los descubrimiento mas hermosos en lo personal fue percatarme que en muchas regiones de México se habla todavía igual que en las Regiones de España recorridas a pie o a lomos de caballo y jumento por Don Quijote y por Sancho Panza, gobernador de la ïnsula de la Barataria.
Bellísima. Edición para de la edición ilustrada de la obra de Migel de Cervantes y Saavedra . Esta edición es bastante rara en papel. Aplausos para quienes ponen a disposición del lector este maravilloso libro.
