"A fantastic debut from new author, Nina Loard, that's brimming with emotion." -- Red City Review

Caught between an impossible past and dangerous future, a forgotten love refuses to die...

It's been years since the car accident, but with every disappointment Evelyn finds herself wondering about her forgotten days in London. After being dismissed from her job, she unknowingly wanders past an old friend who reintroduces himself by breaking into her home. Armed with a photograph and a handful of gems, he convinces her that after dropping out of her study abroad program, she befriended a group of accomplished thieves. Drawn to the handsome stranger in her living room and seduced by the idea of finally knowing the truth, Evelyn travels to London to face her past and understand what could've caused her to make such uncharacteristic life choices.

As conflicting memories surface, Evelyn fights her attraction to the Irish rogue, Fintan, while sparring with the intimidating group leader, Ari. There's the added problem of forgetting where she's stashed a small fortune. Realizing too late that darker forces are closing in on her, Evelyn fights to save herself and the lives of those she's grown to care for.

"If you're looking for romance with a bit of bite to it, or adventure coupled with emotional depth, then this is the obvious choice for you." -- Red City Review

Perhaps not surprisingly given Nina's background as a poet, her words flow with a grace that few authors ever achieve - much less in their first work. Her characters convey a sense of relaxed realism, as if we were listening in to conversations amongst intimate friends at a Starbucks. The twist here, is that all have their agendas and like any good dramatic plot these motivations are revealed slowly over time like a robust French red expands on your palette.

In the hands of a less skilled author this slow reveal would be maddening, but because Nina writes such compelling characters, we wait. Happily. Events unfold with a rush - seemingly minor details all come together in a fusion of drama and delight at the book's climactic end.

Book two will carry on with a great central idea that Ms. Loard will build on. I for one, can't wait! Kudos Nina on a job well done! Now get going and finish book two!!

Stolen Skye Book One The Skye Trilogy edition by Nina Loard Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

If you like a romance novel with the edge of a thriller, then this is the perfect book. With enough romance to make the blood start flowing and an equal amount of mystery to keep the mind guessing, this book had me wanting nothing but more. I am so invested in the characters that I can not wait for the mystery to unwind. I could not put the book down and I found myself actually talking out loud to the characters at one point. I would highly recommend this book to any of my lady friends. Do yourself the favor and buy it now.
Yummy, emotional tension, I love it. The author does a good job of keeping you wondering right along with the main character who doesn't remember a thing. A good read.
We first meet Evelyn as she's being downsized from her current job--our introduction shows her grace and vulnerability, two characteristics that endure throughout this cleverly woven story! With time on her hands and a friend from her past, Evelyn begins to unravel the lost memories of her time spent in Europe. As she returns to London to piece together her past, she must learn who to trust, who to believe and who to love.

Armed only with information from her group of friends, brief flashes of memory and her own wit and intelligence, Evelyn comes into her own among a ring of experienced thieves. I loved taking the journey with Evelyn as she questions everything, trusts few and pieces together the clues of her past life and loves. It's a thriller and a romance that leaves you cheering for Evelyn and wanting more!
I hate reading books where the author is haphazardly, half-assedly throwing something together; writers shouldn't fake the funk. Happily, that doesn't happen here, and you can tell that the author has invested herself into this work and in her characters. She doesn't shy away from a complex story spanning a variety of regions, and romance readers will be intrigued by the choices Evelyn is presented with. There are a lot of romances out there. You'll be happy you chose this one.
A friend suggested that I read Stolen Skye, written by Nina Loard a local in my area. I am so glad that she recommended this book! I must say that it was absolutely amazing! I could not put the book down and ended up reading it in about a day! Nina has developed and created characters that readers can not only envision and dream up but ones that the reader can relate to and fall in love with their stories. Very suspenseful with lots of action and romance!! If you want to read a book that is different and not a typically everyday run of the mill read, then this book is for you! You will get pulled into the story immediately and will continuously be wondering what will happen next!

I would even love to see this made into a movie or show series! Looking forward to finishing the trilogy and hoping for much more from Nina Loard!
Nina Loard's freshmen attempt at a novel is nothing less than fabulous. Stolen Skye is a story with momentum from beginning to end with more than a few twists along the way to keep you wondering.

Follow our heroine, Evy, from her island home in Newport, Rhode Island through the streets of London and Paris as she tries to reclaim memories of nearly two years spent in Europe forgotten after an accident leaves her without memory of her time there. Meet the ensemble cast of strangers, once her friends, that become reintroduced to her to help her regain her missing time. Are they saints? Are they sinners? For you to decide. Suffice it to say, they are charming, diverse and hooked on adrenaline.

Ms. Loard avoids the pitfalls of many first-time novelists of meandering plot lines and wasted prose. This story moves like a locomotive that will not stop nor slow down until the train has reached it's destination. Quite comfortable with her writing voice, Ms. Loard will be an author to watch.

Definitely worth the read!!
I enjoyed this story from beginning to end! While you are almost forced to like Finn, I was captivated with Ari early on. I guess I like the mysterious and difficult to read personality. Evelyn is swept away in a whirlwind of lost memories, relationships/friendships, and a rekindled life. By the end of the book, I do not envy the predicament she finds herself in. I know who I would like to see her with, but I'm sure Nina Loard will inevitably throw in some mind-boggling twists and turns in Book 2. I absolutely cannot wait to read it!
